TOMORROW’S WORKFORCE

We are committed to improving digital skills and online safety education to prepare the workforce of tomorrow in our communities.

Together with variety of NGOs across our footprint, we are opening doors for the next generation of innovators by creating exciting ways for young people to acquire the skills and resources they need to succeed in the digital economy, while also creating a positive social impact.

Through our partnership with the Coolest Projects Global 2022 we have engaged over 2,500 young innovators and have sponsored the Environmental challenge category.

In 2022, we also teamed up with the non-profit BeCentral Foundation to launch the Code United camp across five cities in Belgium. Approximately 720 children received a free week-long bootcamp where they developed digital skills.

Inclusive Connectivity

We are committed to enhancing digital equity for our communities and wider society – by providing access to next-generation connectivity and refurbished devices, affordable options for communities that are at risk of digital exclusion.

Through our operations, we are delivering a number of initiatives to improve digital equity, by providing access to the internet for vulnerable families within our footprint or making our products and services accessible to those less able.

PARTNERSHIP WITH STREET CHILD

We have a number of purposeful partnerships with not-for-profit organizations which align with our inclusive culture and benefit society.

At Liberty Global, we want to impact communities globally and focus on the world of tomorrow. Our decade long partnership with Street Child helps us to prioritise children in the most marginalized populations we will contribute to a better tomorrow – more prosperous and more inclusive.

Street Child believes that every child deserves to be safe, in school, and learning, even and especially, in low resource environments and emergencies. Today Street Child works across more than 20 countries in sub-Saharan Africa, Asia, and Europe and are experts in education, economic empowerment, and protection programming.

As part our partnership with Street Child, our employees take part in the Big Ride, a much-loved annual fundraising event. In 2023 more than 600 participants took part raising nearly €1 million.

VOLUNTEERING

Through volunteering, we deepen our connection with communities and gain a better understanding of the issues affecting people around us. Bringing new experiences and perspectives back to work with us strengthens our culture and elevates our shared purpose. We provide multiple pathways for our people to volunteer:

  • Volunteer time off: Our Liberty Global employees receive up to 24 hours of paid leave a year to support causes that matter to them. Similar programmes have been implemented across our broader organization. For instance, Virgin Media O2 JV’s Take Five programme grants employees five days of paid time to engage in volunteering.
  • Company-organized volunteering: Through community partnerships with non-profit organizations, we facilitate opportunities for Liberty Global teams and individuals to engage in volunteer initiatives addressing the most critical needs identified by our trusted partners.
