Liberty Global is a champion sponsor of Coolest Projects 2021, supporting Raspberry Pi as it searches for young digital innovators.

TV presenters Maddie Moate and Greg Foot led this year’s celebration event on Tuesday 8th June showcasing the winning favourites, picked by the Coolest Projects special judges.

Coolest Projects – the world-leading technology fair for young people up to the age of 18 – is being run online this year so entrants can participate safely and from wherever they are in the world. Over 1000 incredible tech projects, from over 40 countries, are now featured on the Coolest Projects online showcase gallery here.

Through Coolest Projects, young people are empowered to show the world something they’re making with tech. It doesn’t matter how small or big their project is, because the Coolest Projects showcase is about celebrating the love we all share for getting creative with tech.

All young people are invited to take part in Coolest Projects, with any level of experience. The projects range from a simple Scratch animation to advanced gaming, hardware, website, or mobile apps and are invited at any stage of the creation process, whether they’re prototypes, works-in-progress or finished products. This year entrants were also asked if their project helps solve a problem in the community or the environment.

Philip Colligan, CEO of the Raspberry Pi Foundation, said “Coolest Projects provides a platform for young people, from all over the world, to share their ideas for how to use technology to solve real world challenges like the climate emergency. From animations about oceanic pollution to AI recycling bins, these young digital makers are changing the world through technology.”

Tech leaders, including Liberty Global’s Senior Vice President and Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Manuel Kohnstamm, are helping judge showcase entries, with favourites being announced at the online recognition event in June.

Manuel said,“I can’t wait to see what our young digital innovators invent this year. It is always brilliant to see what challenges young people consider need solving, and how they use digital technology to drive real benefits for society and the planet.”

Liberty Global is proud to be a supporter of the Raspberry Pi Foundation, providing expertise, passion and resources. One of Liberty Global’s Responsibility goals is enabling digital inclusion and accessibility in society, empowering positive change through technology.
