EMPLOYEE RESOURCE GROUPS

One of our first initiatives was the creation of Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), which create a safe place for employees to raise issues, share best practice and provide insight and recommendations to the DE&I Council, ensuring all voices are heard, valued and respected. Our ERGs support our DE&I initiatives across the pillars that form our multi-year DE&I strategy.

Our People

At Liberty Global, we take pride in our diverse and inclusive workforce and a company culture centered around Belonging. In 2023, across Liberty Global UK, NL and US, we had over 60 nationalities. Our largest groups across these offices are UK nationals (49%), Dutch (17%) and American (7%).

Liberty Global Youth Council

Launched in 2023, the Youth Council is an independent voice made up of 12 appointed members, harnessing youth thinking and culture into Liberty Global by feeding bold perspectives and advising the leadership, leading to a greater diversity of thought. The Council serves as a safe space for testing new ideas, and activating and accelerating initiatives with relevance to consumers, investors, employees and policymakers.

Boosting diversity in our hiring process

All our employees now have access to an augmented AI writing platform that ensures the language we use in our job descriptions and job adverts is inclusive and removes bias towards certain characteristics such as ethnicity, gender or age.

We’ve also introduced conscious inclusion training for hiring managers and more diverse interviewing panels.

Developing our women leaders

We’re introducing mentoring and leadership classes in Finance and Tech as part of our ‘Aspire to Inspire’ programme. We’re also one of the main sponsors of The WICT Network, which aims to empower women in Media, Entertainment and Technology.

Disability inclusion

We’ve joined the Valuable 500, which connects the world’s most influential global leaders in order to make business more inclusive for people with disabilities.

It builds on our decision to take part in the UK Government’s voluntary Disability Confident scheme to ensure we are attracting, recruiting and retaining the widest possible talent pool of colleagues with disabilities.

DEPLOYING DATA AND INSIGHTS TO IMPROVE DIVERSITY

In 2021 we rolled out our first-ever inclusion survey to better understand everyone’s experience of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) at Liberty Global and give us actionable insights. We continuously track data and take action in order to improve.
