Liberty Global is proud to have once again sponsored the Future Maker Awards at the recent Coolest Projects event in Mechelen, Belgium.

The Future Maker Awards – part of Liberty Global’s flagship ‘Digital Imagination’ program –  aim to celebrate digital solutions that answer society’s most pressing challenges by encouraging young people to take an active role in their communities and make a positive change.

The winner of this year’s award was Lize with her project “CYou” which is aimed at helping people with Alzheimer’s feel more secure and confident in their home. As those living with Alzheimer don’t always recognize people they know, Lize developed a  project which helps them to understand who is knocking on the door, by having the visitor enter a specific code on a keypad before they enter.

Martine Tempels, founder of CoderDojo Belgium and Senior Vice President of Telenet Business said: “The purpose of this Coolest Projects event is to stimulate digital entrepreneurship among young people. Developing an idea is a huge achievement: participants develop their own idea into a real project that they present to the public and the jury. This way they train the skills they need to become a true entrepreneur. Failure and retrying are also part of that.”

A big congrats to Lize as she also won last year’s Future Makers Award.
