John C. Malone
Dr. John C. Malone is Chairman of the Board of Liberty Media Corporation, Liberty Broadband Corporation and Liberty Global plc. From 1996 to March 1999, when Tele-Communications, Inc. (TCI) merged with AT&T Corp., he was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of TCI. Previous to that, from 1973 to 1996, Dr. Malone served as President and Chief Executive Officer of TCI. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Qurate Retail, Inc., Liberty Latin America Ltd. and Discovery, Inc. Additionally, Dr. Malone is a director emeritus of Charter Communications, Inc. and Chairman Emeritus of the Board for Cable Television Laboratories, Inc.
Born in 1941 in Milford, Connecticut, Dr. Malone was a Phi Beta Kappa and merit scholar at Yale University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Economics in 1963. He also received a Master of Science in Industrial Management from Johns Hopkins in 1964 and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Operations Research from Johns Hopkins in 1967. He has received two Honorary Degrees for Doctorate of Human Letters; the first from Denver University in 1992 and the second from Johns Hopkins University in 2012.
Dr. Malone began his career in 1963 at Bell Telephone Laboratories/AT&T in economic planning and research and development. In 1968, he joined McKinsey & Company and in 1970 he became Group Vice President at General Instrument Corporation (GI). He was later named President of Jerrold Electronics, a GI subsidiary.
He served as Director of the National Cable Television Association (NCTA) from 1974 to 1977 and again from 1980 to 1993. During the 1977-1978 term, Dr. Malone was the NCTA’s Treasurer.
In 1983, Dr. Malone received the NCTA Vanguard Award, one of the highest honors in the cable television industry. He has received many other awards and honors which include: TVC Magazine Man of the Year Award – 1981; Wall Street Transcript’s Gold Award for the cable industry’s best Chief Executive Officer – 1982, 1985, 1986 and 1987; Wall Street Transcript’s Silver Award in 1984 and 1989; Women In Cable’s Betsy Magness Fellowship Honoree; University of Pennsylvania Wharton School Sol C. Snider Entrepreneurial Center Award of Merit for Distinguished Entrepreneurship; American Jewish Committee Sherrill C. Corwin Human Relations Award; Communications Technology Magazine Service and Technology Award; Bronze Award – 1993 Financial World CEO of the Year Competition; The Hopkins Distinguished Alumnus Award in 1994 and in 2004 the Hopkins Medal, the school’s highest award.
He is also recognized as a Yale Sterling Fellow (Harkness Circle) and in May of 2016 he was awarded the Steven J. Ross Humanitarian Award. In October of 2016, Dr. Malone was honored by the Television Academy with the Charles F. Jenkins Lifetime Achievement Emmy Award. On January 9, 2017 he received the Citizen of the West award which is an honor bestowed upon him through the National Western Association in Colorado.

As a member of the management team that founded the company over 30 years ago, Fries launched its international expansion, and has served in various strategic and operating capacities since that time. He was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the company in 2005 and serves as a member of its two-person Executive Committee along with Chairman, Dr. John C. Malone.
Fries is also Executive Chairman of Liberty Latin America (LLA), a leading broadband and mobile operator in Chile, Puerto Rico, the Caribbean and other parts of Latin America that serves 14 million broadband, video, voice and mobile subscribers and generates $4.8 billion of annual revenue. LLA was split off from Liberty Global to focus purely on organic and strategic growth in the region. Fries also serves on the corporate boards of Grupo Televisa and Lionsgate Entertainment.
Fries is an engaged industry and community leader. He serves as board member for Cable Labs and trustee for The Paley Center for Media, and he chairs the board for the Biennial of the Americas and is Trustee Emeritus and former Chair of the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver. He is a Digital Communications Governor and Steering Committee Member of the World Economic Forum and recognition for his achievements includes EY Entrepreneur of the Year in Media, Entertainment and Telecommunications, Industry Leader of the Year by Digital TV Europe, and inductions into the Broadcasting & Cable Hall of Fame and the Cable Hall of Fame, which recognizes pioneers and leaders in the cable industry. Mike holds a B.A. from Wesleyan University, where he is a Trustee Emeritus, and an M.B.A. from Columbia University, where he is a member of the Board of Overseers for the Business School.

Andrew J. Cole

Andrew has most recently founded a new nationwide TV news business in the UK called GB News. Since August 2014, he has also served as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Glow Financial Services, a private company. Glow Financial Services is a FinTech provider of mobile handset and CPE financing for wireless carriers, OEMs, retailers, and cable companies. Until August 2014, he was the Chief Executive Officer and Director of the EMEA division of Asurion Corp, a private entity and the world’s largest technology protection (e.g. phone insurance) company. He assumed that role in May 2009, after serving as Chief Marketing Officer and Senior Vice President at Asurion Corp in the US from April 2007. Andrew has over 25 years of experience working in the Telecommunications and Media industry with a particular depth of experience in the mobile sector. Over this time he was a management consultant partner serving clients such as Verizon, Sprint, AT&T, BT, Warner Music, Disney, Google, and notably was hired personally by Steve Jobs on the iPhone® in 2005-06 when he was president of CSMG Advents, a strategic consultancy firm that focused on the telecommunications media and entertainment markets, from October 2005 to April 2007. Prior to this, he worked as a partner at A.T. Kearney and Senior Consultant at LEK Consulting.

Miranda has over 30 years of experience in the international media and telecommunications industry, starting with the international distribution of programming for the BBC before moving to the cable industry. Her most recent positions were as an executive officer of our predecessor LGI and its predecessor where she served as President of Liberty Media International Inc. and subsequently as President of Liberty Global Japan. In these positons, she oversaw cable and programming investments in Europe and Asia. In particular, she was responsible for the negotiation, oversight and management of a joint venture with Sumitomo Corporation that led to the formation of Jupiter Telecommunications Co. Ltd. (J:COM), the largest multiple cable system operator in Japan, and Jupiter TV Co., Ltd., a leading provider of content services to the Japanese cable and satellite industries, as well as other content ventures in Europe and Asia. In early 2010, Miranda retired from her officer position with our company following the sale of substantially all of our investments in Japan.

Marisa Drew

Marisa’s extensive experience includes a long career at the international financial services company, Credit Suisse, where she held a variety of roles including Co-Head of Investment Banking and Capital Markets for EMEA and Global Co-Head of the Global Markets Solutions Group, and most recently as Chief Sustainability Officer and Global Head of Sustainability Strategy, Advisory and Finance. Prior to that she worked for Merrill Lynch and the private equity firm and investment bank, Kidder Peabody. In 2022, Ms. Drew was recognized by Sustainability Magazine as one of the Top 10 CSOs of a Global Corporation and in 2021 as one of 100 Global Visionary Leaders by Meaningful Business. Starting in July, Ms. Drew will become Chief Sustainability Officer at Standard Chartered Bank.

Paul has over 40 years of experience in the investment banking industry. He is a Managing Director of Allen & Company, LLC, a position that he has held for more than the last five years, and is a senior member of Allen & Company’s mergers and acquisitions advisory practice. In that capacity, he has served as a financial advisor to many Fortune 500 companies, principally in the media and entertainment industries. Paul joined Allen & Company in 1972. In 1975, he established Allen Investment Management, which manages capital for endowments, pension funds and family offices.

Richard “Dick” R Green

For over 20 years, Dick served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Cable Television Laboratories, Inc., a non-profit cable television industry research and development consortium (CableLabs®) before retiring in December 2009. While at CableLabs®, Dick oversaw the development of DOCSIS technology, the establishment of common specifications for digital voice and the deployment of interactive television, among other technologies for the cable industry. Prior to joining CableLabs®, he was a Senior Vice President at PBS (1984 – 1988), where he was instrumental in establishing PBS as a leader in high definition television and digital audio transmission technology, and served as a director of CBS’s Advanced Television Technology Laboratory (1980 – 1983), where he managed and produced the first high definition television programs in December 1981, among other accomplishments. Dick is the author of over 55 technical papers on a variety of topics. Currently, Dick is a professor and the director of the Center for Technology Innovation at the University of Denver.

He was a full member of the Board of Ethics of the City of Stamford, CT, which he was appointed to by the mayor in 2012. He is a member of the Development Committee of the Smithsonian Museum of the American Latino and is active in Latinos for Education, which connects diverse leaders to the education sector to create equity and opportunity for Latino youth. Tony G. Werner
Tony G. Werner is a long-term telecom and technology veteran. Tony spent the last 16 years with Comcast Cable. His legacy as Chief Technology Officer and then President, Technology, Product, Xperience, accelerated the pace of innovation within Comcast, shrinking time to market for new products and features from months to weeks, and in some cases, days. In addition, under his leadership, the team created the X1 Platform and the features that helped X1 win Emmy Awards for both user experience and the groundbreaking X1 voice remote. In 2016, Tony was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Emmy Award in honor of his distinguished career as a technologist, innovator, and leader.
Prior to Comcast, Tony served as Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for Liberty Global, Inc., in Englewood, CO, where he led the company’s global strategy for video, voice and data services. Tony has also held senior management positions with Aurora Networks, Tele-Communications, Inc. (TCI)/AT&T Broadband, and Rogers Communications.
Tony served as President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) and the SCTE Foundation from 2015-2017. Tony was chairman of the CableLabs Technical Action Committee (TAC) from 2007-2022 and a board member on Kyrio the profit arm of CableLabs.
Tony was inducted into the Cable and Broadcast Hall of Fame as well as the Cable Center Hall of Fame. In 2000, Tony received the NCTA Vanguard award for Science and Technology and in 2016 he received the Technical Emmy award for lifetime achievement.
Tony also served on the board of the Kimmel Center of the Arts in Philadelphia and he and his wife, Laurel, formed KiliTech, a foundation to bring technology and clean water to schools in Tanzania. Tony holds numerous patents and earned his degree in Telecommunications from Dakota County Technical College in Rosemount, MN.
