Liberty Global is among 20 major mobile network operators signing onto GSMA Open Gateway, a new industry-wide initiative launched today at the Mobile World Congress 2023 in Barcelona.

Through a framework of Application Programmable Interfaces (APIs), Open Gateway is providing universal access across operator networks to software developers and hyperscalers.

The initiative marks a paradigm shift in the way the telecoms industry collaborates, designs and delivers services to drive innovation and accelerate the development of immersive technologies, including smart mobility, gaming and the world of Web 3.0. Via one access point, developers can configure connectivity options, monitor network performance, and deploy apps simultaneously to multiple networks.

Liberty Global is joined by fellow signatories of the Open Gateway Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), including America Movil, AT&T, Axiata, Bharti Airtel, China Mobile, Deutsche Tekekom, KDDI, IT, MTN, Orange, Singtel, Swisscom, STC, Telefonica, Telenor, Telstra, TIM, Verizon and Vodafone.
