Ziggo is now the largest provider of 2 Gbit/s internet in the Netherlands, offering high speed connectivity to nearly 7 million households by the end of 2025.

Further expansion will follow in 2026 towards full nationwide coverage, with Ziggo’s 2 Gbit/s speeds to be available in many previously underserved areas.

Earlier, VodafoneZiggo announced that it will introduce internet products with speeds of 4 Gbit/s and 8 Gbit/s in 2026, emphasising its leading role in a future where digital connectivity takes centre stage.

The demand for faster and more stable internet is growing as consumers and entrepreneurs increasingly rely on digital applications. From gaming and streaming to working with AI tools: a reliable and powerful internet connection is essential. With these new speeds, Ziggo is now bringing even faster internet to millions of households, including areas where 2 Gbit/s was not yet available. The ‘Wifi Extra Large’ package offers 2 Gbit/s. For businesses, the ‘Business Internet Xtra XL’ package provides 2.2 Gbit/s download speeds.

The company is initially offering the new product to existing customers, allowing them to benefit from it first. 2 Gbit/s is expected to be available via stores, customer service and the website within the coming weeks, allowing everyone to order in the way that suits them best.

Robin Kroes, Director of Consumer Market at VodafoneZiggo said: “With this introduction, we are setting a new standard for fast and stable internet for a large part of the Netherlands. Whether you work, game, or stream, we ensure that millions of households and entrepreneurs can rely on stable connections. Since March this year, we also offer WiFi Guarantee with all our packages, making internet not only faster throughout the house but also more carefree and user-friendly.”

Innovation and future-proofing

Thanks to VodafoneZiggo’s combined fibre-coax network, the company can scale quickly and achieve broad coverage without extensive digging work. As early as 2022, VodafoneZiggo was the first telecom company to offer a speed of 1 Gbit/s to all its customers. Next week marks the rapid rollout of 2 Gbit/s. With the upcoming upgrade to DOCSIS 4.0, the network will be made capable of supporting much higher speeds of up to 10 Gbit/s. Additionally, the partnership with DELTA Fiber ensures that Ziggo’s internet and television services become available in areas where VodafoneZiggo has not yet had its own network.

New strategy in action

VodafoneZiggo continues to implement its new strategy. The new ‘Wifi Extra Large’ package offers customers more room to work, learn, and create, now and in the future. Customers are also assured of strong and stable internet throughout their homes with Ziggo’s WiFi Guarantee. Furthermore, in March, VodafoneZiggo simplified its internet offerings and adjusted the prices. These steps form part of the telecom company’s new strategic plan with a clear direction for the future.
