At Liberty Global, we believe the connections we are building today are helping create a better tomorrow. We know that removing social barriers and empowering the disabled community enhances our supply of diverse talent, drives innovation, maximises business performance and positively transforms the lives of people in the world around us.

In 2020, we established a DE&I Council with members from across our business and have agreed five pillars to focus on, including disability. Our intention is to have inclusivity factored into the decisions we make, from supporting people with disabilities through recruitment to designing accessible next generation digital solutions.

Mike Fries has pledged, on behalf of Liberty Global, to champion disability inclusion by signing up to The Valuable 500 – a global movement putting disability on the business leadership agenda. Together, 500 business leaders will help create a stronger society for 1.3 billion people globally who have a disability.

In signing this commitment, our promise is to create a consciously inclusive culture and make a positive impact for the disabled community, including neurodivergent people.

Our disability inclusion commitments include:

  • Creating an Employee Resource Group focusing on removing barriers for all disabled and neurodivergent colleagues
  • Reviewing and defining policies and actions that support existing employees, potential future employees and customers with disabilities
  • Launching a development journey for our people that challenges non-inclusive behavior and embeds an inclusive culture for all
  • Reviewing and enhancing our recruitment process so that people can demonstrate their talent without any limitations.

The Valuable 500 is a social enterprise organisation campaigning to ensure  disability inclusion is firmly on the agenda of business leaders. It celebrates those who are already committed to inclusion and showcases their actions that will enable everyone to live and work autonomously and easily in society and achieve their ambitions.

Joining The Valuable 500 builds on our decision earlier this year to take part in the UK Government’s voluntary Disability Confident scheme to ensure we are attracting, recruiting and retaining the widest possible talent pool of colleagues with disabilities.

These steps are part of our journey. We know we have more to do. We are determined to prioritise diversity, equity and inclusion at Liberty Global.
