We recognise that traffic and deliveries are among the issues of greatest interest to local communities during construction. This page will therefore provide advance notice, where possible, of planned road works, access arrangements, delivery periods and abnormal load movements associated with the project.
No abnormal loads or wind turbine components will be transported on the C72. Traffic will consist of typical construction vehicles such as HGVs, vans and site welfare units.
Delivery of wind turbine components is expected to begin from September 2027, arriving via the Port of Cairnryan before travelling to the site via the A77, U90w and U84w.

Chirmorie Windfarm Limited has road improvement works planned from 12/10 – 16/10 on the C72 road between Barrhill and New Luce. Areas for resurfacing have been marked on the road and signage has been deployed to inform of the upcoming road closure. Signage will be deployed for the diversion route for through traffic. We appreciate that these works will cause some inconvenience for local access along the C72 and we have planned the works to maintain access as much as possible.
Local access to properties along the closed section of road will be possible in both the directions of New Luce and Barrhill before 07.30 and after 17.00.
