We are looking for a Senior Manager, ESG Reporting to join our team in Schiphol-Rijk in Netherlands
The Senior Manager, ESG Reporting, is responsible for directing the Group’s ESG reporting operating model, which includes oversight of governance, data strategy, controls, assurance, and disclosures to ensure all outputs are accurate, comparable, and audit-ready in compliance with CSRD/ESRS, EU Taxonomy, and established frameworks such as GRI and TCFD. This role manages enterprise-wide policies and reporting criteria and is accountable for the delivery of annual sustainability statements and related regulatory submissions. The position also leads a dedicated team and develops the strategic roadmap for system enhancements, system integrations, and process improvement initiatives.
The role will regularly interface with senior leaders throughout the company, with Liberty Global markets, delivery partners, external consultants, external and internal auditors, and corporate departments including Finance, Risk & Compliance, Legal, Procurement, Investor Relations, and the People team.
KEY DELIVERABLES
- CSRD/ESRS-compliant sustainability statements and integrated report content (incl. SECR as applicable) with high-quality narratives and data tables.
- Published Group ESG Reporting Policies & Methodologies (incl. Reporting Criteria, Scopes 1–3 definitions and carbon accounting methodologies) and updated templates—control-approved and auditor-ready.
- Group Double Materiality & risk assessment outputs (method, inputs, decision logs) and integration into disclosures, KPIs and strategy.
- Assurance & audit artifact pack: plan & budget/ELs, PBC/evidence sets, draft footprints, response logs, MRLs, final opinions & findings closure.
- ESG performance dashboards & KPI packs with insights and gap remediation proposals.
- Governance framework & periodic reporting for climate transition plans and sustainability investments.
- Tooling integration support for Watershed with enterprise systems (e.g., Workday, Egencia, Oracle).
- Parameter stewardship records (Emission Factor libraries, allocation/reporting rules, FX changes) and auditable restatement trails.
- External disclosures & submissions delivered on time (e.g., CSRD/ESRS, CDP, CSA, GRI report, TCFD/ISSB) and investor/M&A/SLL support packs.
- CSRD workstream documentation: narratives/PAT, KPI roll-outs & control designs in Watershed, and People Planet Progress Council/Committee update materials.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Oversee and interpret regulatory requirements (CSRD/ESRS, EU Taxonomy, US and UK climate regulations) and coordinate gap and materiality assessments, KPI implementation, and controls.
- Manage Group reporting policies and methodologies; communicate updates and ensure aligned controls across entities.
- Develop and operate data controls, validation protocols, audit trails, and documentation for process/audit.
- Lead cross-entity ESG reporting programs with relevant teams to ensure accurate, consistent reporting.
- Direct full-cycle reporting and Group disclosures under major frameworks (CSRD/ESRS, GRI, TCFD/ISSB, SECR, CFRD).
- Manage dashboards and KPIs, identify gaps, improve coverage, and provide actionable insights.
- Handle assurance and audit management: budgets, letters, documentation, findings closure, and stakeholder communication.
- Govern climate transition and investment monitoring/reporting processes.
- Deliver targeted training and clinics for business units and subsidiaries.
- Oversee platform releases, integrations, automation, master lists, and out-of-system adjustments.
- Maintain emission factor libraries, rules, FX rates, consolidate footprint, and manage restatements.
- Support investor disclosures, rating responses, and SLL requirements.
- Coordinate CSRD workstreams, controls roll-outs, and update governance committees.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
Knowledge & Experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance, Sustainability, Engineering, Economics or similar; Master’s or professional qualification (e.g., audit/controls) is a plus.
- Relevant years in ESG or financial reporting, audit/assurance or risk/internal controls in a complex, multi-entity environment; prior team leadership required; Big 4 or assurance experience advantageous.
- Technical: Deep knowledge of CSRD/ESRS, EU Taxonomy, and familiarity with climate rule proposals; Watershed/Workiva (or similar); XBRL/XHTML; SOX/ICOFR-style control design and testing.
- Program skills: Demonstrated success leading multi-stakeholder programs and SteerCos; project management, prioritization and problem-solving skills.
- Stakeholder management & communication: Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable with senior executive and auditor interactions;
- Language: English C1+; additional languages a plus.
- Demonstrated leadership behaviors: Drives change, enables strategy execution, removes complexity, empowers and develops others; models inclusive leadership
