Eric Tveter serves as Chairman of UPC Switzerland and as CEO for the Liberty Global businesses in Eastern Europe. He is also a member of the Liberty Global Executive Leadership Team. His main role in Switzerland is to oversee strategic planning and stakeholder relations. As CEO for Eastern Europe, he is responsible for Liberty Global’s businesses operations in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia, as well as the UPC DTH satellite television services based in Luxembourg. Combined, these operations span more than 10 million customers.
Eric joined former Cablecom in 2009 as CEO with responsibility to managing the turnaround of its operations. During this time, he successfully introduced a customer-centric company-wide programme which created superior market leading growth. He developed cutting-edge customer advocacy and structural customer satisfaction methodologies (NPS) which were then applied to other Liberty Global markets as well. He also oversaw the launch of the Connect Box as well as the Connect App – thus significantly improving customer’s Wi-Fi experience.
Also during his tenure, he oversaw the creation of popular, effective and multiple award-winning marketing campaigns; from humorous advertising spots with Carlos Leal demonstrating the fastest internet speeds in Switzerland starting in 2013, where he also played a key part, to outstanding customer value propositions such as “Connect and Play” in 2016 and “Happy Home” in 2018. Eric was also responsible for piloting the launch of the next generation TV platform as well as the inauguration of the popular MySports channels in 2017. From 2015 until 2018, he was responsible for the Central Europe Group (CE) within Liberty Global, encompassing not only the Switzerland and Austrian region but the above mentioned Eastern European countries as well.
Prior to joining Cablecom, he held various senior executive media and telecom roles in the United States, the United Kingdom and various European countries and emerging markets. He was formerly President of the cable operator Telewest Global Inc in the UK and held a range of senior leadership positions at Time Warner Cable, Comcast Corporation and Metromedia International. Eric was a non-executive Board Member of Open TV and served as Chairman of Sightspeed Inc until the business was sold to Logitech in late 2008.
Eric sits on the Board of Directors of the First National Bank of Long Island, he is on the board of Veniam as well as a Trustee for Lessons for Life . He holds an MBA from Rutgers University as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Accounting from Long Island University, two institutions which he supports actively.
He is an avid golfer and downhill and cross-country skier as well as a sports enthusiast who is passionate about ice hockey, football, motorsports, tennis and baseball. His family lives just outside Zurich, Switzerland.
