We believe that building connections today for a better tomorrow goes beyond providing great products and services. It’s not only about what we do for our customers and our people, but also what we do for our communities.
That’s why we have a community engagement programme which mobilises our resources to address societal issues and generate a positive impact. We do this through a variety of targeted activities, from supporting charitable organisations to building community partnerships and engaging our people in their community through volunteering.
Through volunteering, we deepen our connection with communities and gain better understanding of the issues affecting people around us. Bringing new experiences and perspectives back to work with us strengthens our culture and elevates our shared purpose. We do this a couple of ways:
Company-sponsored volunteering: These are events and opportunities for Liberty Global to give back in a united and impactful way such as The Big Ride, our major fundraiser in support of our charity partner Street Child.
Volunteer time off: We offer up to 24 hours paid leave a year to help employees support causes that matter to them.
Through our community programme we invest grants, time and in-kind support in non-profit organisations. Our grant programme has three pillars:
– Youth education to improve outcomes
– Civic leadership supporting economic growth, innovation and cultural diversity
– Industry engagement – uniting across our industry to advance collaboration and societal impact
Colleagues recently spent a day at an early childhood education centre in Denver, Colorado. The employees painted, helped with landscaping and general improvements at the centre which that primarily serves low-income families.
We have a number of purposeful partnerships with not-for-profit organisations which align with our inclusive culture and benefit society.
Liberty Global has enjoyed a long-standing relationship with Street Child for over a decade and supports the charity’s drive to provide universal basic education to tackle global poverty.
We have helped raise millions of pounds and provide pro-bono support such as office space, technical assistance and management guidance for Street Child – senior leaders Manuel Kohnstamm, James Ryan and Andrea Salvato are on the board of Trustees.
Employees are offered paid leave to join the Big Ride, a much-loved annual fundraising event. In 2023 more than 600 participants took part raising nearly €1 million.
