UPC Slovakia is the largest cable television operator in Slovakia. UPC Slovakia provides video, broadband internet, and digital (VoIP) telephony services to 448,000 service subscribers (RGUs) represented by 271,000 customers as of September 30, 2016.
UPC Slovakia’s customers are located in seven regions in Slovakia, including the five largest cities of Bratislava, Košice, Prešov, Banská Bystrica, and Žilina. Its networks are 96% upgraded to two-way capability with 97% of the homes passed served by a network with a bandwidth of at least 860 MHz.
UPC Slovakia also offers a wide range of voice, broadband internet, and data services to business customers and wholesale partners located in its services areas.
UPC Slovakia provides basic and enhanced video services. For its enhanced video subscribers, UPC Slovakia offers different packages starting with a package that includes 109 video channels and several radio channels (including the channels in its basic service). Subscribers may also receive its enhanced video service through a CI+ module in combination with a smart card without the need for a set-top box. In addition, UPC Slovakia offers its customers a variety of premium channels, HD programming, a pay-per-view service, an electronic program guide, as well as, DVR services. A basic video subscriber receives 45 video channels and quite a few radio channels.
In July 2015, UPC Slovakia launched Horizon Go and in November 2015 MyPrime became available via Horizon Go.
Enhanced Video penetration3
UPC Slovakia offers multiple tiers of broadband internet service. Download speeds of up to 500 Mbps are available UPC Fiber Power service, utilizing EuroDOCSIS 3.0 technology. The UPC Fiber Power service is available to 88% of UPC Slovakia’s homes passed. In 2016, UPC Slovakia launched WiFiSpots across its footprint which provides free WiFi access to its customers who are traveling within the footprint. UPC Slovakia has 91,000 WiFiSpots as of September 30, 2016.
UPC Slovakia offers multi-feature digital telephony via VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol). Its VoIP services are available to 88% of its homes passed.
